When I moved to Bushwick from Manhattan years ago, I was simultaneously as excited for my artistic renaissance as I was nervous to ever find a proper sports bar again that catered to my overindulgent taste. Manhattan does a lot wrong, but it does what sports bars do right. Plentiful TVs, lots of beer and well drinks, and most importantly - WINGS. Well you can understand my appreciation when among the desert of DJs and hipsters, I finally found a proper sports bar serving some absolutely righteous bar grub. Welcome to Clara's.
When I bit into the recommended “Wings.. Double Fried!” my life changed.
It’s one thing to offer a sports bar in a place where there aren’t many. It’s another thing to take the elements of a good one and enhance them without losing that approachable dive bar charm, as often becomes the case. Well Eric and his team struck the balance perfectly. And their menu DOES NOT disappoint.
It would seem the lack of surrounding competition only sharpened the Clara’s staff when designing their menu. From the crispy, crunchy, salt-crackled rosemary fries to their famous Double Fried Wings (Top 5 in NYC beyond a doubt) to their Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich (pictured) that rivals most in Nashville, this menu is the real deal.
