The Route
Hudson River Greenway: Pier 25 to Chelsea Piers to Little Island
Distance: About 5 miles round trip
Start: Pier 25, Tribeca
Turnaround: Little Island, near 14th Street
Finish: Back around Pier 25 or Tribeca
Hudson River Park provides four miles of largely uninterrupted riverfront running with skyline and sunset views, while the larger Hudson River Greenway runs north-south along Manhattan’s west side. Start at Pier 25 and head north on the waterfront path. Keep the Hudson on your left, pass the Chelsea Piers action, take in Little Island, then turn around whenever your legs begin drafting a complaint.hudsonriverpark+1
The Beer Stops
Halfway Point: The Standard Biergarten
848 Washington St. | Meatpacking District
If your group is doing the Pier 25-to-Little Island loop, the Biergarten makes a strong celebratory detour near the turnaround. It has the loud, communal energy needed for the friend who insists they “barely run” before casually posting the fastest pace. Keep it as the finish only if you are ending near 14th Street. Otherwise, note it for the next run.
Post-run beer potential | 9/10 | “Big tables, casual energy, and beers built for debriefing every mile.”
Route convenience | 9/10 | “It is just off the Greenway around the Little Island section.”
X factor | 9/10 | “You can pivot from athletic achievement to Meatpacking chaos with suspicious speed.”
Finish Strong: Grand Banks
Pier 25 | Tribeca
Enjoy a “we just ran on the waterfront” victory lap. Grand Banks is parked right where this route begins and ends, so it is the cleanest finish-line beer stop in town. The move is simple: finish your run, cool down, hydrate first, then sit on the historic schooner and enjoy the fact that New York occasionally lets you have a main-character afternoon.
Post-run beer potential | 10/10 | “You completed the run, and the boat is literally right there.”
Route convenience | 10/10 | “No subway transfer. No extra trek. Just finish.”
X factor | 10/10 | “A beer on a boat beside the Hudson is almost unfair to every other post-run plan.”
Run Responsibly!
Run first. Rehydrate. Eat something. Then beer. Hudson River Park also posts advisories and temporary-closure information, so check conditions before you go, especially if you are organizing a group run. The route works best in the morning or early evening, when the waterfront is less punishing and the post-run plans feel particularly justified.
