This writeup serves as instructions for business owners, managers, and employees submitting or redeeming GO Deals.

Here's the TLDR version for redeeming if you don't want to read all of the below:

GO Deal redemptions are only valid (GREEN) for 24 hours & for in-store purchases. So if it ain't green, no deal! But if it is, they get the deal!

But how does it all work? Gotham Oracle users are redeeming GO Deals at small businesses across New York City. They come in all shapes and sizes. Like snowflakes! But they all maintain several key qualities:

  • Open Source: For the people, by the people. They're decided upon and submitted for approval by small businesses themselves. You know your business better than anyone else.
  • Unique Snowflakes: Each deal is its own. Businesses with multiple locations or storefronts might submit the same deal for each of their businesses, but they'll be just that - multiple submissions for all the locations. This keeps deals respective to each storefront's own needs.
  • No Limits on Amount of GO Deals: Speaking of multiple submissions, businesses can submit as many GO Deals for their business as they'd like. This is how we're tackling real world problems for SMBs. If your business wants to submit one GO Deal for weekdays, another for weekends, and another for just Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:00pm-7:00pm you can do that plus 50 more. You can cover every inch of your operating hours based on your operating needs.

In the pictured examples at the top of this article you might have noticed that some but not all GO Deals reveal promo codes upon redeeming. Sometimes the revealed codes may be external links as well. These are completely optional to submit. Your business might not need codes. Green redemptions might be all that employees need to see to honor a deal. Here are some scenarios where you might consider providing a promo code for you GO Deal submission.

  • External Links for your Online NYC Services: Some businesses have online portals and/or promo engines for their services. For example, different music collectives or stand-up comedy businesses offer the option for discounted tickets at checkout. GO Users around NYC will be happy to attend these events.
  • Secret Passwords: Consider this. Perhaps your patrons can only get your GO Deal upon saying the promo codes in addition to showing the redemption. AKA the "Secret Password." Maybe your restaurant is hosting a community raffle like it does every Sunday, but if an attendee shows the GREEN redemption AND mentions the promo code they get a free first drink. That's how you know Gotham Oracle sent 'em. The added bonus here is that by updating your GO Deals' promo codes (secret passwords) you'll avoid fruadsters

Now here's a fun addition you might've picked up on from the submission forms or the raffle example. GO Deals can represent deals AND events. A happy hour or daily specials (e.g. Wine Wednesday).. that's a deal. Karaoke Tuesdays... that's an event. Spend $200+ Get A $50 store credit... that's a deal. Open Mic Nights... those are events. But they're all GO Deals.

Let us be your free billboard. Let us be your walking table tent. You're already placing a sign on your sidewalk urging New Yorkers to come in at certain times for certain deals. We'll do that for you across the city for FREE. And as always, the better the deal you advertise, the more attention it'll get.
